Trademarks & Licensing

Appalachian State University, established in 1899 in Boone, offers a challenging academic environment, energetic campus life and breathtaking location.  With a student body of about 17,000, Appalachian offers more than 150 undergraduate and graduate majors.  The small classes and close interactions create a strong sense of community, which has become an Appalachian hallmark.  Appalachian fields 20 NCAA Division I varsity sports and will be competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision next year.

The three primary roles of Appalachian State's Trademarks & Licensing office are:

  • Protect the trademarks, service marks, logos, symbols and indicia that belong to the university and that are associated with the values and traditions of Appalachian.
  • Promote the university in a consistent manner by allowing only uses by officially licensed vendors and on quality products.
  • Create revenues to fund student scholarships.
